(Dan Tri) – While the war in Bakhmut continues to rage, Avdiivka, another city in Eastern Ukraine, is at risk of being wiped out by Russia’s increased shelling.

`The city that is being erased from the earth Avdiivka is becoming more and more like a place in post-apocalyptic movies,` said Vitalii Barabash, head of the Avdiivka military administration, Donetsk province, Eastern Ukraine on March 28.

The city’s utilities will begin to shut down as more and more areas of the city are shelled and destroyed every day, the official added.

A local police officer said that in Avdiivka, people die every day.

Avdiivka is about 90km from Bakhmut and only about 25km north of Donetsk city.

On March 26, a Ukrainian soldier admitted that the situation in Avdiivka continued to be difficult because Russia increased the frequency of air strikes and cut off some of Ukraine’s supply routes.

Yesterday, local authorities ordered the evacuation of people who do not serve the military out of the city.

In Bakhmut, fighting between Ukrainian and Russian troops continued to be fierce.

Previously, Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Valery Zaluzhny also said: `Thanks to the army’s huge efforts, we are stabilizing the situation. Bakhmut is the most difficult front on the entire front line.`

Meanwhile, an intelligence report from the British Ministry of Defense assessed that the advance of Russian forces at Bakhmut showed signs of slowing down, most likely due to serious losses in troops.

Contrary to this statement, Denis Pushilin, head of the Donetsk separatist government, affirmed that Russian forces are making progress in Bakhmut and almost completely control a metallurgical plant here.

In another development, in the context of the Russia-Ukraine conflict showing no signs of abating, the British government today announced that it will coordinate with Poland to build two temporary villages in Lviv province, Western Ukraine and Poltava province.
