Russia and Ukraine fought over every house in Bakhmut, civilians rushed to evacuate

(Dan Tri) – Groups of civilians staying in Bakhmut, Donbass are being evacuated by Kiev, when the war in the Eastern region is tense like a string due to the struggle between Russia and Ukraine on every meter of land.

A group of civilians from Bakhmut stepped down from an armed armored personnel carrier in the frontline town of Chasiv Yar, Eastern Ukraine on April 3, carrying belongings, a dog and a cat.

A woman named Lyuba burst into tears as she hugged her trembling chihuahua dog.

When asked how many civilians remained in Bakhmut, Lyuba said: `We live in a basement. I don’t see anyone.`

A series of tanks and armored personnel carriers are rolling through the town as the battle is still fierce.

Early on April 3, the Russian private military force Wagner, announced that they had captured the town hall of the city of Bakhmut.

A group of soldiers evacuated Lyuba and others about 17km, about half an hour by car.

A Ukrainian soldier said Lyuba’s group would go to the city of Kostyantynivka, about 20km away, where they would be given food and spend the night at a center for internally displaced people.

A shell came flying as they left.

According to a soldier, there are civilians who are still determined to stay in Bakhmut until now because they hope everything will be okay again.

`But this is a house-by-house war. The chance of their houses not being destroyed is very low,` the soldier said, emphasizing that they still maintain relatively easy access to Bakhmut.

Images and videos taken of Bakhmut show that this city has suffered serious infrastructure destruction, with no houses remaining intact in some areas.

In the area near the front line, an unnamed soldier denied Wagner’s claim of capturing the city hall.

`That doesn’t matter. Planting the flag doesn’t mean they have captured the entire city. The situation is still under control,` he emphasized.

`In the area we controlled, the enemy tried to attack, but suffered losses. About 30 people were killed. However, in other areas, the situation may be complicated. In any case
