The former NATO commander cited Ukraine’s only opportunity

(Dan Tri) – Former NATO commander Petr Pavel said that Ukraine has only one chance to conduct a large-scale counterattack to repel Russian forces.

`The window of opportunity only opened this year. After next winter, it will be extremely difficult to maintain the current level of aid,` Czech President Petr Pavel told Polish newspaper Rzeczpospolita.

The Czech President said that, in the context that the US will focus its attention on domestic issues next year, Ukraine may no longer receive aid to continue its military campaign.

`Ukraine will only have one attempt to launch a major counterattack. If they fail, it will be extremely difficult for them to get aid for the next time,` Mr. Pavel warned.

General Petr Pavel is a senior military official of the Czech Republic.

Mr. Pavel predicts that US interest in providing military support to Ukraine will likely wane by 2024. At that time, the political focus in the US will shift to the presidential campaign and US relations.

According to President Pavel, it is Ukraine that will decide what leads to its victory over Russia, which the former NATO commander assured will happen.

Mr. Pavel in February affirmed that Ukraine is defending its territory effectively and that they have a good chance to win the final victory against Russia.

According to Mr. Pavel, there are three main conditions that Western countries can do to support Ukraine until the conflict between Moscow and Kiev ends with victory for the Ukrainian army.

The first condition is that allied countries can maintain the current level of arms supplies to Ukraine.

Late last year, the Russian Ministry of Defense estimated that Western countries had provided Ukraine with weapons, ammunition, and equipment worth up to 97 billion USD.

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said today, March 20, that the US government is delaying resolving the problem in Ukraine, not even allowing the fighting to stop for a moment.

`The United States still maintains its position, which is to provoke further conflict, prevent a reduction in the intensity of fighting and continue to supply Ukraine with various weapons systems,` Mr. Peskov said.
