In an announcement on Facebook on March 19, the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine said Russia lost 21 tanks in one day.
According to Ukrainian statistics, the number of Russian tanks destroyed since the beginning of the conflict has reached 3,532.
Oryx, a site specializing in calculating damage to Russian military equipment in Ukraine through open sources, said Russia has lost more than 1,847 tanks of different types in the Ukrainian battlefield up to now.
Russia has not yet commented on the above information.
On the same day, the Russian Ministry of Defense said that its forces had destroyed 8,338 Ukrainian tanks and armored fighting vehicles since Russia began its military campaign in the neighboring country last February.
Last month, the International Institute for Strategic Studies said Russia lost up to half of its tanks in the first nine months of the conflict.
The announcement of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine on March 19 confirmed that Russia conducted a series of attacks against important Ukrainian cities, including Limansky, Bakhmut, Avdiiv, Maryinsky and Shakhtar.
The Ukrainian side said Russia continued its offensive efforts despite the loss of human resources and the focus of the fighting was still the city of Bakhmut in Donetsk province, Eastern Ukraine.
Tanks are considered one of the important weapons for both Russia and Ukraine on the battlefield.
Meanwhile, Ukraine has seized and restored hundreds of Russian tanks to compensate for the number of tanks they lost in the nearly year-long conflict.
Ukraine hopes that the tanks donated by the West will become an `iron fist` to help them protect defense lines and carry out counterattack plans.
Western tanks are considered more modern than Russia’s Soviet-era tanks.
